We had a visit from Sonia and Roy, otherwise known as Melody Lane. They are UK’s top multi instrumental, vocal harmony double act, based in Doncaster and they were excellent.

We had an enjoyable time at the Parlour cafe today with Lillie and Susan walking there and Janet and Doreen in wheel chairs, pushed by Rita and Vicky. Tracy took Margaret Wild, Sheila and Florence in car.

Caroline brought along lots of winter bedding plants and bulbs for us to plant outside in our raised  wooden planter. We were blessed with a beautiful sunny day and put on our coats for this fun activity.

Vicky and Chloe took two taxi’s to Norfolk Park fayre which is part of Sheffield Carnival. We walked around, looking at the exhibitions and stalls and then sat in deck chairs and had refreshments.

We were kindly donated some money towards the activities fund and we used some of this to buy a Karaoke machine (request from Claire, Senior carer). The residents and especially the staff, have responded very positively and seem to love a good sing along.

Café Visit- 16th August 2017

 

On Wednesday mornings when it is a school holiday, we have a walk down to the Jesus Centre Café for a cuppa, piece of cake/biscuit and friendship. There is also a knitting club running at the same time and we have gotten to know some of the locals really well.

We had a fabulous afternoon at our Beach Day (thank you Zoe for the idea). Lots of friends and relatives turned up and people lent us their buckets and spades, wind breakers and deck chairs.

We had our fortnightly Pulse exercise session in the garden to make most of the dry, warm weather. This was led by Ryan from Pulse who noted that everyone did even better than usual in the fresh air.

We had another exciting Gardening Club session with Caroline this week. We made lavender bags together and a record number of people attended the group and everyone really enjoyed the lovely smells.

Guitar Sing-a-long – 1st August 2017

 

We have weekly guitar sing-a-long sessions with either Vicky or Tracy playing the guitar. The residents often find song sheets very helpful for this activity and most people join in and find the experience very uplifting.

 It was a bright sunny morning as we set up for this year’s Summer Gala Party at Hallamshire.

We were extremely lucky with the weather as this week has been a bit hit and miss! Once the Marquees were erected and the stall set up we opened the party and welcomed all the guests.

Diana Entertains - 10th October 2016

We invited Diana back to help us celebrate Trevor’s birthday. We all signed him a card and sang "Happy Birthday" to him during the performance. He even got a birthday kiss!
